How Our Estimates Are Built
How No Car Title builds its cost estimates: which sources we use, how the math works, what is our own estimate, and how pages are reviewed.
Where the numbers come from
Every fee and rule on this site comes from a named, published source, usually the state motor vehicle agency's own page, form or statute, and each guide cites its sources. Bond premium rates come from surety companies' published pages. When sources disagree, we say so.
How the calculator works
The calculator adds the fees you tick. Lines that scale with the vehicle's value are multiplied by the value you enter, in thousands of dollars. The low ends add up to the low total and the high ends to the high total, rounded to the nearest $10. The math runs in your browser; your inputs are not sent to us.
What is our own estimate
The per-$1,000 bond premium lines are our estimates from published surety rates and are labeled "est." Everything else traces to a cited source. A surety prices your actual bond.

Review and corrections
Each guide shows the date it was last reviewed. If you spot an error, write to us at the address below and we will check it against the source.
